Film Night: I Am Greta

Wednesday 3rd February at 7pm, followed by discussion at 8.45pm

What better way to spend another dark lockdown evening than to join Lochaber Environmental Group for its first environmental film night of 2021 on Wednesday 3rd February 2021.

At 7pm we will be tuning in to watch I Am Greta (currently available to watch on BBC iPlayer), the story of teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg and her rise to environmental stardom.

This award-winning documentary follows the story of Greta, a shy school student with Asperger’s, who, fed up with her government not doing enough to combat climate change, stages a one-person strike outside the Swedish Parliament.  Little did she know that this was just the beginning of what would become the global climate movement Fridays For Future, as she inspires young people from around
the world to strike for action.

The film also joins her on her sailing journey across the Atlantic to speak at the United Nations Climate Action Summit in New York, where she opens up about how being the voice of a generation has impacted her own life.

After watching the film, there will be a Zoom call at 8.45 pm to discuss the documentary. The Zoom call will be joined by three Fridays For Future activists, Holly Gillibrand and Lily Bloom from Fort William, and Lily Henderson from Inverness, for a Q&A to discuss issues raised in the film and how everyone can play a part in the climate and ecological emergency.
